4-Way Hydraulic Brace System4-Way Hydraulic Brace Systems are offered in 3 configurations, 6-Inch, 8-Inch and 10-Inch. A 3-Inch aluminum hydraulic cylinder with 3 ft. of stroke and the proper length high strength steel oversleeve section and corner bracket can provide excavation lengths and widths from 4 ft. to 25 ft. The cylinders provide a 40,000 lb. safe working load for cylinder bulging at a 1.5 factor of safety. The system is generally used for manhole pits, utility pits, and small-bore pits. The system is intended to be completely assembled and lifted into place from outside the excavation. The frames can generally be lifted in with backhoes and boom trucks; however, extreme caution should be used to make sure that allowable lift configurations for the equipment are not exceeded. Additionally, larger length, width, and depths may be achieved using a design by an engineer.
